Police in Delhi, Mumbai, Noida, Hyderabad and other major cities have released comprehensive advisories urging people to avoid drunk driving which is major cause of road accidents on New Year Eve.

As New Year Eve approaches the entire country is gearing up for a night of celebration but police forces in major cities are preparing for busy night ahead. Authorities in Delhi, Mumbai, Noida, Hyderabad and other key locations have issued detailed advisories urging people to avoid drunk driving which remains significant cause of road accidents during the festive night. Additionally guidelines have been put in place to manage traffic congestion when partygoers head home late at night.
In Mumbai the police have announced a robust deployment of personnel for the night including eight Additional Commissioners 29 Deputy Commissioners 53 Assistant Commissioners 2184 Inspectors and over 12,000 constables. To ensure a safe and enjoyable New Year Eve Quick Response Teams Riot Control Police and Home Guards will also be on duty.
Police will establish multiple checkpoints to identify drunk drivers and increase patrolling in crowded areas. Strict action will be taken against drunk drivers troublemakers and individuals harassing women.
Joint Commissioner of Police Satyanarayan Choudhary emphasized we are also monitoring the entry of illegal weapons into the city. History sheeters are being kept under surveillance and preventive measures are being taken when necessary.
Delhi Police have shared humorous social media post to encourage responsible celebrations during New Year Eve. The post announces that Delhi Police will be hosting Cell Block Party for hooligans.
According to the post the opening performer of this party is the breathalyzer which will help identify drunk drivers. The police also promised free transportation to jail with VIP lounge provided in the form of jail cells. Speed cameras will capture the cinematography of this event the post joked. It further suggested if you spot someone who needs to party just dial 112 and let the good times roll adding that the venue is the nearest police station.
In neighboring Noida police are actively patrolling to review preparations. Restaurant and pub owners have been instructed not to take bookings exceeding their capacity. In cases of drunk driving the vehicle will be seized in addition to fine.
In Hyderabad the police have issued a statement outlining traffic arrangements and restrictions for New Year Eve. The Hyderabad Traffic Police will conduct extensive checks to prevent violations including drunk driving rash driving speeding wrong side driving riding without helmets and triple riding on two wheelers the police said. Strict legal action will be taken against offenses such as drunk driving over speeding stunt biking racing reckless driving and other dangerous behaviors on the roads.
