India has consistently advocated for a two states solution to the Israel Palestine conflict.

New Delhi: The Indian government has reiterated its commitment to supporting the people of Palestine with a recent delivery of 30 tonnes of medical supplies amid the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. This shipment contains essential medicines and anti cancer medications.

Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhitr Jaiswal posted on X stating India support for the people of Palestine continues. Extending humanitarian assistance we are sending 30 tonnes of medical supplies including essential life saving and anti cancer medications to Palestine.

Last week India dispatched its first tranche of assistance for the people of Palestine through UNRWA which included 30 tonnes of medicines and food items.

India is providing humanitarian assistance to the people of Palestine through the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) Mr. Jaiswal stated on X.

He added the first tranche of assistance consisting of 30 tons of medicine and food items has departed today. The shipment includes a wide range of essential medicines, surgical supplies, dental products, general medical items and high energy biscuits.

India has historically supported a two states solution to the Israel Palestine conflict. PM Modi was among the first global leaders to condemn the horrific terror attack on Israel by Hamas on October 7 and has repeatedly expressed concerns over the worsening situation in Gaza.

As part of its commitment India also sent humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza. In July India released its first installment of $2.5 million to UNRWA for Palestinian refugees for the year 2024-25.

Last month UNRWA reported that people in Gaza are living in inhumane conditions noting that piles of waste are accumulating in central Gaza and sewage is leaking into the streets.

Families have no choice but to live next to this accumulated waste exposing them to foul odours and the imminent risk of a health disaster UNRWA stated calling for an immediate ceasefire.

Meanwhile Israel parliament has enacted a law banning UNRWA which has been described as outrageous by humanitarian organizations according to Al Jazeera. This ban will significantly restrict UNRWA operations in occupied East Jerusalem and the West Bank.

This action comes as the 24 days Israeli siege of northern Gaza has resulted in the deaths of over 1000 Palestinians destroying neighbourhoods and obliterating entire families.
