Recent reports from Bangladesh reveal that three Hindu temples have been attacked with idols destroyed in the assaults. These incidents have raised alarms within the Hindu community prompting investigations by local authorities into the perpetrators and their intentions. The attacks add to ongoing concerns over rising religious intolerance in the region. Community leaders and activists have urged prompt action to safeguard religious sites and prevent further acts of desecration.

These are the latest in a series of attacks targeting the minority Hindu community in Bangladesh.

In a series of recent attacks eight idols were damaged across three Hindu temples in Bangladesh Mymensingh and Dinajpur districts over the course of two days according to a media report on Friday. Police have arrested a suspect in connection with the vandalism at one of the temples.

These incidents are part of an ongoing pattern of attacks against the minority Hindu community in the country.

In Mymensingh Haluaghat sub district three idols across two temples were vandalised on Thursday and Friday. According to local sources the attackers destroyed two idols at Bonderpara Temple in the Shakuai union of Haluaghat early on Friday morning. However no formal case has been filed and no arrests have been made in connection with the attack.

Additionally statue was damaged at Polashkanda Kali Temple in Beeldora union on Thursday. Police have arrested 27 years old Alal Uddin from the nearby Polashkanda village who confessed to the crime during questioning. He was later presented in court and remanded to jail.

In Dinajpur Birganj sub district five idols were damaged at Jharbari Shashan Kali Temple on Tuesday with the incident being reported on Thursday. The local temple committee president Janardan Roy expressed shock saying the community had never witnessed such an act before. Police are investigating the matter.

On November 29 mob vandalised three Hindu temples in Chattogram following protests and violence after a former ISKCON member was charged with sedition.

Relations between India and Bangladesh have soured since the interim government led by Muhammad Yunus assumed power after the ousting of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina who fled the country on August 5 following a student-led protest.

The situation worsened in recent weeks due to a series of attacks on Hindus particularly following the arrest of Hindu monk Chinmoy Krishna Das former member of ISKCON Bangladesh and now a spokesperson for the Bangladesh Sammilita Sanatani Jagran Jote organization.

Last week Bangladesh acknowledged 88 incidents of communal violence targeting minorities predominantly Hindus since Hasina departure.

The rise in anti Hindu violence has led to diplomatic tensions between India and Bangladesh. In response India Foreign Secretary expressed concerns about these attacks highlighting the safety and well being of minorities during his meetings with Bangladeshi officials in Dhaka.
