Saharanpur (UP): 27 years old man was arrested for allegedly making and sharing an objectionable video involving a poster of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader Mayawati police reported on Wednesday.
In the video shared during Karwa Chauth the man is seen looking at the former chief minister poster through a sieve, blowing a kiss and offering it water.
As per Hindu traditions women observe Karwa Chauth by fasting for the long lives of their husbands and break the fast after moonrise. They look at the moon through a sieve and then at their husbands who offer them water to end the fast.
Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural) Sagar Jain stated that the video circulating on social media angered BSP supporters leading them to file a complaint at the local police station and demand action against the accused.
Based on the complaint a case was registered and the accused Lavesh Saini resident of Rampur Kalan was arrested on Tuesday for creating the objectionable video featuring a poster of BSP president Mayawati and sharing it on social media during Karwa Chauth the officer stated.
Further investigation is ongoing he added.
