Congress candidate and wrestler Vinesh Phogat won the Julana seat in the Haryana Assembly election, defeating BJP’s Yogesh Kumar by over 6015 votes in her first election. Surrender Lather from the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) secured third place in this prominent constituency in Jind district. Phogat initially led during the counting process but briefly fell behind before regaining and maintaining her lead for a comfortable victory.
In the 2019 elections, the Julana seat was won by Amarjit Dhanda of the Jannayak Janta Party (JJP), which was part of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA). Prior to that, Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) candidate Parminder Singh Dhull won the seat in both 2014 and 2009. Haryana held its elections in a single phase on October 5, recording a voter turnout of 67.90%, while Julana saw a higher turnout of 74.66%.
